Spectate vs incident.io

The incident.io alternative with monitoring included

Incidents, on-call and status pages, plus the uptime checks and server monitoring that start them. One price per monitor, whether five or fifty people are on call.

The short version

Which one fits you

incident.io: incident.io is an incident management platform built around Slack and Microsoft Teams, with on-call, status pages, workflows and AI investigations. It takes alerts from your monitoring tools and doesn't run uptime checks itself.

Choose Spectate when

  • You want monitoring and incident response in one tool, without a separate uptime service.
  • You want everyone on call without paying per user: Team and Business have unlimited members.
  • You want server monitoring, certificate and domain checks, and failure screenshots.
  • You want status page subscribers, private pages and 6 languages on a small budget.

Choose incident.io when

  • You need deep incident workflows: custom fields, automated workflows, catalogs and AI investigations.
  • You need SAML, SCIM or a public API today.
  • You already have monitoring you're happy with and only need incident response.
  • You run a large engineering organisation and want an established incident process product.

Moving from incident.io

Most teams run both side by side for a week. Email help@spectate.net if you'd like a hand.

  1. 01Start a 14-day trial; no card needed. It runs on Team, with on-call.
  2. 02Add monitors for the services your current monitoring tool watches, or point Grafana, Prometheus Alertmanager or Sentry at a Spectate alert source.
  3. 03Recreate your on-call schedules and escalation paths. There is no importer; help@spectate.net can help.
  4. 04Install the Slack app, so incidents open their own channel, then move your status page domain with one DNS record.
FAQ

Spectate and incident.io

Is Spectate cheaper than incident.io?

For on-call teams, yes. Five responders on incident.io Team with on-call cost $145 a month, before you pay for uptime monitoring. Spectate Team is €48 a month for unlimited members, and includes 80 monitors.

Does Spectate do incident management like incident.io?

Spectate covers the core: declare from the dashboard or Slack, a channel per incident, roles, a timeline, updates, status page publishing and postmortems. It doesn't have incident.io's custom fields, workflow builder, catalog or AI investigations.

Can I import my schedules from incident.io?

There is no importer. Rotations, overrides and escalation paths take a few minutes each to recreate, and help@spectate.net can help.

Can I keep my current monitoring tools?

Yes. Grafana, Prometheus Alertmanager, Sentry, any webhook and email can fire alerts in Spectate, and they run through the same escalation paths as Spectate's own monitors.
